Have you tried to clean the idle adjustment actuator and its electrical connections, located behind the intake manifold? Dont think that adjusting that screw pictured earlier would fix your problem if the engine was working good previously, and anything has not affected to its adjustments? You could try and find out, if the engine is leaking air, by using  `start pilot` or something similar sprayable liquid.  :)

Well, it only happens when the car is cold so it should be a vacuum leak. ICV was cleaned earlier.

I will try to source the leak with some carb cleaner

No, I haven't adjusted it.

Good, shall usually not be touched if no one has been on it before or the screw  is worn.

Have you checked the temp sensor?

Can't find any vacuum leaks. Tried with carb cleaner and holding a hose in my ear :) Just can't find anything.

That leaves the coolant sensor.

One more thing. Is it needed to reset the ECU after changing the ICV?

Oh and one more thing. When the idle starts acting up, I can hear a ticking noise next to the fuel pump. That should be the fuel vapour valve but should it tick rapidly on idle? Can't remember it has done that ever. It would tick once when pressing the accelerator pedal

Here is a photo from outside the garage. Yes, it can actually drive.

You will notice a different oil cap. As new V6 caps with the Alfa logo are no longer available to buy new I have decided to make a 1,5mm thick alloy plate (self-adhesive, of course) with the Alfa logo engraved on top, all CNC made. It looks great IMHO and will offer that in the shop if there will be interest. Not cheap to produce, but I am still looking for a supplier with the best price. Seems like a perfect thing to do to your old, worn oil cap :D

Maybe it's just a little fuel vapors collected in the charcoal canister, Alfa describes that the system is activated under certain engine load conditions but nothing on what those certain engine load conditions is, but I think that is when the engine is running and at low load.
ECU controls the fuel vapour valve but it is the lambda that tells ECU what to do, if lambda senses a rich condition then ECU decreases fuel injection time (less fuel injected) and if lambda senses a lean condition then ECU closes (deactivate) fuel vapour valve.
Maybe in the cold weather there is not much fuel vapours collected in the charcoal canister so when ECU purge charcoal canister (clean air is used) lambda senses a lean condition and ECU deactivate fuel vapour valve but the conditions for purging persists so fuel vapour valve is activated again and the cycle repeats itself again and again.
Also things that sounds in a car has often a more pronounced sound in a cold car.

I know now :)

When you start the car it idles at 2000rpm then starts falling after a few minutes to the usual 600/700/wtvr and then starts hunting from 300 to 1500 app.

 Hello Charlee,

I had in past similar problems with idles hunting from 400 to 1500.

The problem was wrong input from altitude sensor BOSCH 0 280 101 001.

Try to measure resistance between pins. In case that inner body is loosed from plastic frame ECU receiving crazy values.

Thanks for the info! I had removed it while working on the engine... Maybe something broke

That are normal values.

Are you able to connect  ECU with diagnostic?

Any errors?

Does you engine runs like this?

btw just replace your vapor valve if it's clicking to loud. I've had it on my GTV TB and replaced it, sound is gone. I also have it on my 147GTA, and I still needs to replace that valve. over time they just make more noise.

Not like this. When the car is started it runs at 2000rpm, then settles down when the engine gets warm. If it's started when warm, everyhing is fine. It sometimes starts hunting when warm, but not every time. It's not so agressive like on the video...

Mine are completely different. Never actually seen any black ones IRL. Is it a Spider item?
