Alfawiltshire

Hi from Wiltshire, England.

Just bought a black GTV. Looks to be in excellent condition. It needs a few jobs doing to it, but overall, a very nice car, and looking forward to many years of happy motoring.

I gave it a polish today. I'll take some more pictures tomorrow. I must be honest....I didn't like the wheels too much at first....but they're growing on me ;-)

Hi and welcome to the forum  :hello: .

Tell us more about the car. It has to be phase 2 with this chrome grill framework.

No new photos yet....I'm away for the weekend, so will have to upload them when I get home next week.

It's a 1995 Phase 1 with the alloy topped 2.0 twinspark engine.

It's covered 167'000 miles, and still going strong....burns hardly any oil, although I will of course be checking it very regularly....I already have 2 Alfa 145's....so I'm used to checking the oil on an almost daily basis.

The chassis is absolutely solid, can't find a speck of rust anywhere. In the last 2 or 3 years it's had new exhaust, brakes, clutch, gearbox and loads of other things....got a 6" stack of paperwork with it.

It's obviously been polished and waxed very regularly, paintwork is still in excellent condition, just some light scratching around the locks/door button.

The interior is in excellent condition, everything original apart from the stereo.

The only problems I can find are the sunroof doesn't work.....the motor works, but nothing happens. I'll have a look at some point...no rush with the recent weather.

There's a tapping noise from the engine. It sounded like the power steering pump at first, but I've checked it out, and it's just the drive belt tensioner, hopefully fit a new one and belt on Monday.

And finally, it takes an absolute age, if at all, to get up to temperature. The thermostat looks like it hasn't been changed in years and years....so that will be done in the next week or so.

It's got an MOT until May next year, and the only advisories on the current one were that the front outer gaiters were perishing, and 2 rubber front brake hoses were slightly perished.....so nothing major.

Apart from those little bits, I can't find anything else wrong with it. The last owner was a policeman, and judging from all the receipts, it lacked nothing, plus there's an Alfa Romeo Owners Club sticker in the windscreen, so I'm guessing he was an enthusiast.

Anyway, most importantly, absolutely love driving it, and even had been stop and take photos of it....the GTV obviously isn't a common sight in these parts.

The seats look in good condition and are probably more supportive than leather one. I think that you need floor mats made especially for the GTV/Spider ;) .
