Adjusting the windows so that they seal properly... Alfaworkshop has a good guide that I used together with some trial and error. Also removing stereo and curb light cables.

I took a chance and ordered a single DIN storage box from some random Nissan on Chinese eBay. Looked like this:

The main problem with it is that it's too shallow. It doesn't sit at the bottom of the bracket and there's like 5 cm of air in between so not even close. Might give it a second try and order something similar that appears deeper.

You need a stereo fascia/bracket

Yes, you're right. The "lips" on the box that are supposed to keep it from falling "into the panel" are too small tho, so I need to modify it so that it stays in place by itself... >_>

And fit the fascia.

I've been busy changing jobs so I haven't gotten much done except collecting some parts. An oil temp gauge for €10 including delivery, for example. The brand is Autogauge so it isn't exactly VDO, but gets decent reviews and usually costs like €60. Worth a try!

A question:

The threads for the top screws on my filter box are gone and I've never seen one fitted. Should I tighten the nuts all the way so that the edge of the box and the lid seal against one another? Feels like filter would get damaged. Altho it flexes a little, I doubt it flexes enough for the edge of the box and the lid to meet. Tell me how you guys did it  :hello:

So... no balls to drive other than a Swedish tank during the winter? Even if our Integrale doesn't start I still like it :D

Gotta admit two things... I like my Volvo 240 a lot. Thought I wouldn't care about it and just drive it like the teenager I almost still I am...  but it's a nice to bouncy around with a tractor-like engine and gearbox. Actually, that rusty Volvo inspires just as many happy reactions from people as the Alfa does!

Second, it's not snowing so I'm going by bike... or a company car. So I'm not driving neither the Alfa nor the Volvo at the moment.

Hehe Volvo 240 have it's own charm here in Norway. We all seem to love them. Especially teenagers on the countryside :P

Have to admit though. When I see a 240 in good condition all original I have to turn my head... hehe

There's something special about them that the 740/940s don't have.

I also turn my head at a 240 in good original condition.

Mine doesn't quite fulfil the criteria for "good original condition" but people seem to like it anyway

Should I tighten the nuts all the way so that the edge of the box and the lid seal against one another? In the picture, the edges don't touch but the filter isn't visible due to the lid reaching down.

The workshop manual doesn't say  :(

You are using the correct filter? if I remember correctly, 3.0L has the same shape of the filter but the filter is a bit longer.

I used Mann's own catalogue: C 1589/3. The V6s use the same filter, apparently. No difference in height as far as I can see.

If I remember correctly so is the filter for TS 256mm in hight and the filter for 3.0L  283 mm in hight.

According to K&N catalog 1.8 TS, 2.0 TS and 3.0 V6 use same filter, which is 235mm height (K&N). 2.0 JTS use different cone filter with height of 249mm.

Hahah! Self-healing? Naa, but full of air! There is a huge amount of space behind the fender so nothing was damaged

Fixable with a hammer, yes :D
