  4. Wanted: GTV CUP side skirts

I prefer original, but willimg to accept replicas too simce I am low on budget. New or used, color is not important. What is important is to be in a good shape (not damaged). Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Nice one, I always liked the look of the RX8, but the rotary engine pulled me off. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  10. '02 Spider 2.0TS

The end of summer caught me gathering info on how to fit a 16vt engine from a Fiat Coupe into my GTV TS. I found a complete donor car with no papers for a very good price and was one step away from buying it. I was involved in a very constructive discussion with VooMan here on the forum and was hunting for NineOneSix on Facebook But no more than 10 days later I was announcing the budget was spent on something different. Well, here's on what it was spent: a '02 Spider with another 2l Twin Spark engine The car was in a pretty bad shape, exterior was all scratched and faded and had few minor damages all around, right window and electric hood failed to operate, ABS light was on and so on. But it was in the limited Edizione Elegante trim with dual color seats and lots of minor details, while the engine was running very smooth despite it's high millage. All in all, looked like a great restoration project (not that I needed another one though ) I soon started by changing the cambelt and everything related (including the camshaft variator) and all the fluids (tried to make sure the engine is safe). There are still plenty of stuff to be fixed on the mechanical side: the ABS still doesn't work (probably the pump), there is a strange noise coming from accessories (either the AC compressor or the alternator), AC is not working (have to investigate wether the compressor is broken, a pipe is leaking or there simply is no refrigerant inside), the temperature fails reaching 90 while on motorway (broken thermostat) but is raising above 90 on mountain roads (probably an aged radiator) etc. I then moved my attention towards the exterior since I was literally ashamed of driving it like that. The car entered for a full respray, I decided against the OEM black which I find a bit dull for a Spider and went for a blue tinted Carbon Black instead. During the process, the car was completely dismantled, a perfect occasion to unstuck the right window (which still works intermittently) and the automatic roof (which now works like a charm). The car was ready just in time for a late October run on one of our famous mountain roads, Transalpina. It was so glorious that my good old friend from Alfattitude asked me to write a few words and post my photos on his website, you can find the article here: http://alfattitude.com/above-the-clouds/ Then I had a nice trip to the seaside, where I left the car in a garage during the winter. Plenty of work to be done next year! Speaking of which, happy New Year!

The work you're doing for weight reduction is insane! Keep up! About the turbo though, it might be rated for up to 1000hp, but looks like it will not spool easy..
  12. Alfa GTV CARBONara

How come you didn't switch to a CF plenum yet?
  13. Alfa GTV CARBONara

Must check your shop soon then Not because of weight saving, but mines are a bit damaged, plus who wouldn't want some CF under the hood
  14. Alfa GTV CARBONara

    What side covers? Engine bay?
  15. GTV 3.0 V6 24V Paso

    Looks lovely!

If I ever come to Zurich, I'd like to take a few shots of your car myself! I really do think it deserves better!
  17. Alfa GTV CARBONara

Sorry, no! Or I might have and completely forgotten Makes alot of sense then! Good luck!

I'll have to disagree with you on this, rear wheels don't need to be wider on a FWD car; they don't improve handling but on a contrary, they increase understeer! Plus they are adding unnecessary weight, but you already know that

My calculations were based on you post from page 3. Although the wheel is lighter, the combo between wheel&tire is actually heavier than stock 17" wheels. Just out of interest, what's the exact wheel setup front/back? what offset for the wheels and what size for adapter plates? As for the brakes, here's a quick link showing it's possible: http://www.autodeltashop.com/product_info.php?cPath=30_83&products_id=307 It's for illustration purpose only, I bet you could find less expensive ways. A friend of mine was using something similar on his 56 3.0 V6 trackday car.

You would save almost 10kg by replicating your existing front wheels/tires setup to the rear. Then probably an extra 2kg if you would loose the spacers/pcd adapters. Long story-short, a more appropriate wheels/tires setup. Then brakes: the standard 4 pot Brembos with 330mm discs are pretty heavy, some motorsport calipers / floating discs could help both saving weight and adding more stop power. Not to mention that such upgrades will not only save weight, but also reduce the unsprung mass.

On Saturday, I took advantage of a Giulia/Stelvio Owners event held at the local racetrack and entered the track for a few laps myself. Didn't focus too much on setting lap records but mostly on the experience itself, getting to know the car and the track. Great experience all in all! Other than that, I'm collecting alot of parts; I already installed a Supersprint 4-2-1 exhaust header, small 4 pot Brembo calipers from 156GTA with 305mm discs are awaiting for custom brackets, a brand new original CUP splitter is waiting for some side skirts to finish the CUP look, and finally, a set of Zender Siena must find their way home..

Sold my 916 Spider more than 4 years ago, owned a Brera and then a 939 Spider, while my girlfriend had a MiTo. Sold both our Alfas late last year and replaced them with other makes. After almost 12 years of Alfa ownership, I was no longer an Alfa owner Or so Without anybody knowing it (not even my girlfriend), I bought a GTV TS 2 days before Christmas! It was in good condition, with some good maintenance done by the previous 2 owners (which I both knew): full PU bushes on the rear axle, rebuild exhaust, new tires etc. Unfortunately, the engine failed 2 years ago due to insufficient oil.. Now it was lying in a yard, with it's engine torn into pieces. I was on a tight budget, so planned carefully for the acquisition and the engine rebuild. Few days later, I was spending the entire repairing budget on another GTV with same problem (broken engine) This time, it was a beautiful Edizione Sportiva, with it's typical red carpet - black leather / red stitches electric seats interior Fast forward, 5 months later, I finally managed to have the engine rebuilt, swapped the interior with the one on the Edizione Sportiva, installed side wings & rear spoiler, Eibach sport springs, swapped the MP3 player with an old-school high-end series Pioneer, and drove the car to AlfaFest, our annual national Alfa meeting Car is far from being perfect, engine still doesn't run as it should, exterior could use some fresh new paint, there are some parts that need immediate replacement (some crankshaft or bearing) etc. but will get there with time! On the plus side, it's far better preserved than I expected, it also handles far better than I expected on twisted roads (definitely better than my old 916 Spider, although that was also tweaked in terms of suspension). Although I fancy with photography myself, untill I shoot my own pictures, here are some official photos from the event, shot by a famous romanian automotive photographer. Enjoy!
  23. GTV TB: GT2560R & FMIC upgrade

What wheels are these? They're awesome!
  24. Big Power GTV 16V Turbo!

What engine was originally in the GTV? Was there any way you could use the GTV shocks?
  25. My GTV 16vt

Is there any way you could use GTV front shocks with this swap?
