  4. Project Alfa - Philippines

Guys, I have been reading many posts about proper wheel fitments to our GTV. I am right now researching ahead on the wheels I would like to place on my GTV. My plans are to get a GTV Cup spoiler kit and 18-in wheels. Can you guys give me suggestions as to the wheel offsets and wheel width. I was looking at installing 8-8.5 for fronts and 9-10-in rears so I will not need any spacers. But these are just thoughts and considerations only. I know we have PCD 98 but I don't mind to buy a spacer adapter that can fit PCD114 so that I have a wider selection of wheels. As always thanks for all the inputs. OZ and SPARCO (to compliment my seat belt harness) are in my radar. A dealer in Hong Kong will bring them over for me. No customs duties in Hong Kong I believe at the end of the day each one of us have their peculiar choices.

Kunev, The turbocharger came from Korea and are brand new but we modified its internals. Yes you are right Chinese turbos dont last long. We have been doing turbo internal upgrades for quite some time already and have lasted for years. The internals are from GARRET. This was modified for fast spooling. Will see what my chassis specialist can do for the upper and lower struts. We have to fabricate our own because we have a different engine. This is a project car that we to show off in small car shows here. we buckle up on the 4 ponint seat belt when test the car in race track or on a dragstrip. Other than we use the existing 3 point seat belt.:$;-)

:banana:Guys, Thanks for the tips..... By the way, I was in the notion that some one would like to donate their front and rear calipers to me. Send me a message, I can pay for the package and shipping cost, if ever. Please do include the brake lines. I am only after the ends of the brake lines because i will only use the ends of it. The rubber hoses will taken out, instead braided ones will be installed.

Filip, Do you have a sort of diagram on the proper installation of a 4-point seat belt somehow? With the new turbos I may now have to seriously look into your seatbelt issue...
  8. Project Alfa - Philippines

Kunev, Here is some serious horsepower coming. A friend of mine left his GT35 turbocharger in our shop because he had no budget for the install. This is a fast spooling turbo because we had modified the internals and changed the turbine wheels and machined the internals. The air inlet is 4-in from 3-in of my CT20 turbo. I will not do any major changes in my turbo piping. I will just fabricate an adaptor and do some tweaking on some adjustments on the pipes. This turbo should easily produce around 400hp+ easily ones installed. I will be upgrading my radiators too because I am experiencing overheating problems. This occurred when I rebuilt my CT20. I must be running lean. The turbo must be running much better than before. Even if I adjusted the fuel mixture, I believe with the horsepower I will be producing a bigger radiator must be needed. Right now, my alfa is in the shop as we are working on the underchassis. If you guys have any suggestions on the stiffening of the undersides of the GTVs let me know. We don't plan to buy any aftermarket parts as we can fabricate all of them with the proper materials in our shop. It will be too expensive for me to import them anyways.

Filip, Points well taken and highly appreciated. Well the thing is if someone really goes for 500+hp car they would really need a lot of tinkering on the chassism brakes, safety etc etc on the alfa. The high horsepower will create a lot of tremendous load on the chassis. The current recaro seats of the alfa will not do. Installation of a roll cage and race seats would be required by then. At this time I will be satisfied for now with the 300+hp of my engine. The added 5 point seat belts are just an extra safety precaution and its mounts are well thought of to my 181cm body frame. I am not racing my GTV nor am I going to street rod this car. This is basically one of our show cars here in our Tuning garage. We are currently working on a lot of Japanese and Euro cars here now. The GTV is just my baby...
  10. Project Alfa - Philippines

The seat belts are clamped to a special angle bar that are bolted at the back of the seats. They are secured to withstand a rollover just in case. I just have to think way ahead.
  11. Project Alfa - Philippines

Kunev, Thanks for the turbo tip. Those are still just plans I need to get the underchassis right first and when I feel that the chassis can hold additional horsepower, then I go to the larger turbo. The dreamed horsepower target is 500+. That's why I have already installed the 4 point sparco seat belts already....

I believe any color will not work long too because a lot of dirt will eventually accumulate in this subframe. I will color the brakes, arms, axles, etc. But powder coating would be the best option here. Most of the suspension joints also came in already. I should be starting the disassembly of the entire suspension system soon. Lets see.
  13. Project Alfa - Philippines

New Koni Sports Shocks on board..... I did not go for coil overs as I am not going to use the car on the race track anyways. I am also using stock springs because lowering the suspension is not very good here in the Philiipines because our roads are not that great. On my stock suspension I am already hitting bottom on most of the humps and pot holes. I am waiting for my brake calipers. I am just waiting for a response from our friends who has commited to me.

Just got my new or shall we say refurbished Rear Subframe. My former subframe was actually cut by the former owner and adopted a Kayaba Shock Absorber to fit. It was longer than the originals and the ride was terrible. One of the top mount holder of the rear shock also broke off maybe due to low quality welding. Nevertheless, to retain the integrity of Alfa Romeo, I bought a rear subframe from a breaker. Had it sent it all the way to my country sent it to my machine shop for reinforcement on the shock absorber mount. Whai we did was we tig welded another plate besides the mount to make it thicker. I did this because there was an incident here where this rear shock mount broke off. Since I have a 330hp engine with a plan of increasing to 400+ hp (by installing of GT35 turbos) I don't want to compromise on the overall integrity of the suspension. Further upgrades are in the works. I did not find it necessary to powder coat the rear subframe which I believe most would have done. I had to watch on my expenses and it is under the chassis anyways and not seen very often . White was more outstanding to my taste.

Super thanks for forwarding the wheel files...cool B-)
  16. Project Alfa - Philippines

Guys, I am now working on the entire undersides of my car. Can anybody tell me what's the camber and caster for the front and rear of our GTVs. Mine is a phase 1 GTV V6 2.0 TB version.. Will appreciate any assistance. Thanks.
  17. Project Alfa - Philippines

Kunev, I have only one BOV. I am planning to change it to a better one. The BOV is open while in idle so I am running lean now. I am looking into changing the springs to heavier ones or customize an adjustment on the springs. Overall have to retune the entire system again. hmmmm... My engine system has a MAF sensor and the ECU is piggy backed to a GREDDY Engine Management System. Will see how everything works out. Thanks.
  18. The new Alfa 4C

I just hope it lands in our shores.....
  19. Project Alfa - Philippines

My alfa is up and running and I am running too lean. I need to change my Blow Off Valves or modify the valve spring retainer as it opening too soon. I have already changed the springs to harder ones but it seems I need to fabricate an internal adjustment so that the springs can be compressed further..... another customization issue.
  20. Hello from Wales!

    Mabuhay!!! Paul

Actually, I can export you one if you wish. We have only V6 2.0TB engines here. The exhaust shop can style it from there only to make the fitments correct. I can vouch for the workmanship of the shop here. They do export exhaust systems worldwide as you know. if you a personal design you wish they can do that for you as well. Think about it......
  22. Hello from the Philippines

You may need to purchase a new master brake cylinder set. Lets integrate our requirements as this will be cheaper to do that if we order by ourselves. If we have a bunch of us doing this we can save some money in having our 916 run for many more years. We envy those guys in Europe that have all the available parts at their disposal. We don't have that luxury so that's why have to customize and adopt to our situation. Sadly, my project car cost 2 to 3 cars of theirs already. But I don't think they could ever do what I have done because the labor cost there is very expensive. No worries, me and mechanic partner can fix whatever your problems in the Alfa to include your ECU!!!. I can even make you a braided brake line at an unbelievable cost.
  23. Project Alfa - Philippines

A friend of Inspire showed me a month old used Bilstein and Koni Coilovers from a Corrado that we will check out and try to fit into my front suspension.... we plan to customize the fittings and make special spacers to adopt to the GTV. This will be very interesting if it will be better than placing the Koni Sports Shocks that I have ordered...... hmmm decision decision....
  24. Project Alfa - Philippines

Since I am working on the bottom part of my GTV. Just want to show you guys what my exhaust system looks like. The exhaust system are 3-in SS pipes and split via T to 2 - 2.5 in SS pipes then to 2 Remus Exhaust mufflers. The sound has a very unique and distinctive bass. Tuning of the exhaust system was done changing the length of the resonator. Initially, it was straight then we installed them with the resonator. The T Shape provides for a little back pressure. Though there is a special flange fabricated between the turbo outlet and the downpipe that also provided for the required back pressure for the engine. The pipes besides the downpipe are from the waste gate located above the turbochargers. Most of the adjustable peripherals (BOV, Wategates, Boot Pressure, Fuel Regulator, etc) of the modifications were located above the engine for easy access and for show. Though I know some would want all these tucked in and colored black but this is my style... bling bling There are minimal bends on the exhaust system for a smoother transition of the exhaust gases. I would have loved to get a better exhaust muffler that would perfectly tuck under the alfa for a cleaner look. The Remus was the smallest diameter and proven system that could fit. The exhaust system was fabricated by a Contractor here that exports aftermarket exhaust system to Europe and USA. They are just rebadged in the country who ordered the exhaust system. They were all tig welded, polished and gas leak tested. To bring the cost down I bought all the pipes and bends myself.
  25. Hello from the Philippines

Inspire, Though I have bought new Koni Sport Shocks and should be in before end of March. I don't intend to change my springs because our roads aren't that perfect. I have already met some potholes which really scraped my aircon condensers. But they are still OK. Bring your GTV to our shop and definitely I can help you sort out your alfa. Would love to get another alfa. But was thinking of getting a newer model rather than having the same one. That's only wishful thinking....
