  1. Filip's GTV TS Clubsport project

Thanks guys! I can almost walk now. Not in stairs ofc because those 20 stitches make themselves known, but... Just gonna take a break from crawling around underneath the GTV and collect parts for a while instead. A thermostat and some badges to begin with. Anyone got ideas for badges? Don't feel like paying 60-70 Euro for a new front and rear badge. I read somewhere that you can "rebuild" them by changing the actual emblem, the sticker. At least some versions of Alfa badges...?
  2. The new Alfa 4C

It's fantastic that Alfa Romeo has gotten so much positive air time by Top Gear over the past two weeks
  3. Filip's GTV TS Clubsport project

My plan to complete the car by the end of March has probably derailed. Bicycle crash at decent speed, tore off pretty much all the skin off of my knee (no head injuries or broken wrists!). Gonna take many weeks before it has fully healed and I have full mobility.

If I were still a gamer, I'd say LOL. If you were sitting with some drinking buddies, making jokes about old cars, and you would try to make up a messed up diagnostic procedure, you would end up with something like this.. Thanks, GTV-TB! I will look into this.
  5. Filip's GTV TS Clubsport project

Yeah, I've had enough of bending copper tubes in my spare time now... Looking forward to test driving and investigating the ABS problem!
  6. Hello from Sweden!

Because a car should be bought using inspiration, not reason The brakes on mine felt OK before I took them apart but some braided hoses and a careful bleeding of the system should give you the Alfa feeling.
  7. Hello from Sweden!

Welcome! I recognize that GTV from an ad. Finspång, I believe? There's a lot of knowledge about the 916 cars here so hopefully you'll enjoy it. I sure do!
  8. Filip's GTV TS Clubsport project

Yeaah! No leaks in the brake system! Now I just gotta buy more brake fluid (ran out... what a noob) and change the rear bleeder screws. Thought they would be new since the previous owner changed the pads and the discs, but no... And bleed the whole damn thing.
  9. Hello from Austria

    Hi! Welcome We want pictures!
  10. Project Alfa - Philippines

Thanks for sharing your experience with the exhaust build. I'm facing some problems in that department too, so it's great to see how you built yours.

I'm currently rebuilding the rear brake lines since they were in poor condition right where they connect to the brake force regulator. The regulator had a lot of surface rust and the fittings were seized. In order to get the four brake line nuts off, I had to heat them up, hammer a smaller socket (13 & 10, IIRC) onto them and break them loose with a short, quick yank. To anyone who's also doing this: you'll need two sizes of brake line nuts, two regular M10x1 that's also found in the front and rear pipe-hose connections and two larger, weird nuts that measure M12x1 (Called B5L if you use Quick Brake products). I've trial-fitted everything and will fit it all again this weekend and bleed the system. Will also try to take some decent photos, tho it's hard since the garage is dark and my camera is shitty

Since Alfa's recommendation is 75W-90 GL4+, later changed to 75-80, I believe 75W-90 is the best option for inspired, demanding driving. At least that's what I'm gonna use in mine.

Hahah, damn it. BIltema stuff all over. Actually their silicone grease is terrible. Compared it to a similar product from ATE, for example, the one from Biltema "melts" really quickly and acts like olive oil on whatever you used on. Also, the one supplied in caliper repair kits, like Budweg, is a looooooot better. I'm pretty much assuming that you knew this already, GTV-TB, but... someone else might see this and save 20 SEK... I'm not angry with my car. Just frustrated because I want to test drive it and try the ABS, feel what sort of difference the lower subframe brace makes and see if the thermostat is broken... Instead, I get to lie underneath it for a few more weeks fixing brake lines, spraying them with body and adding mounting points to the exhaust. Grrr. It might, soon.
  14. Filip's GTV TS Clubsport project

Hahah that's... Great Even though it's made by Kamasa and not Biltema, I gotta say this upholstery remover thingy is doing a great gig as a fork. I'm having Pytt I Panna ( which looks nasty?!) in the garage right now...
  15. Hello from the Philippines

A little trick on turbocharged BMWs that are quite common in Sweden is to raise the hood/bonnet at the rear by a cm or a few cm. What suspension parts are you waiting for in aaddition to the subframe?
  16. Hello from the Philippines

A Scalino! I neeed to own one of those one day... Looks like your 916 is in better condition than mine!

  20. Filip's GTV TS Clubsport project

True dat! I always end up buying stuff I wasn't really planning on but I manage to justify as a necessity...
  21. Filip's GTV TS Clubsport project

I've read it a few times already. The adjustment process is ridiculous!
  22. My third 916 : Spider 2.0 V6 TB

Serious plans, me likey But something's gone wrong with the lights, Sir! When I daydream about a build like this, I usually swap the 12V Busso for a 3.0L 24V. The 24V is well suited for forced induction in a similar way that BMW M50 engines are. Large valves, low lifting cams and oil nozzles under the pistons. Have you considered this or done some research on it? An unmodified 24V will probably respond better to forced induction than a 2.0-3.0L 12V with polished heads.

If I had a decent light source and a proper lift, I'd show you pics of my new shiny rear brake lines. If I take a photo now, it's just shades of dark and copper Other news: I gathered a service kit to be fitted in a month or so: Liqui Moly Race 10W-60 5LOil and fuel filterLiqui Moly 75W-90 fully synth transmission oil, 2LEthylene glycol, 5L. ATE Racing Blue brake fluid Remaining on the shopping list are: Front and rear badgesNew thermostatPossibly a new brake force regulator or an ABS unit upgrade to 5.3Exhaust fitting bits and pieces

As I was afraid then. I'll clean it, check the lever and re-grease the rubber boot and put it back on the car. It seems OK, and if it turns out that I need a new one, replacing it will be easy now that everything is no longer rusty and seized.
