Me and my little Alfa Nera. A story of an Italian/Persian in Australia and his love for Alfa Romeo
kunev replied to alfisti82's topic in Introduce Yourself
Here is one link for installation of Q2 -> link . If search you can find info about installation. In my opinion it is not so difficult job for experience mechanic. I don't know the price of Q2 in Bulgaria, but it have to be ordered from official dealer and I don't think will be cheaper than on some places on the net. I have bought mine from Autolusso, in the end of 2010 I think, for 450 pounds with free shipping, but now the prices are higher. Quaife have similar or lower price and looks like better option now. There is alfisti from Australia with Q2, try to contact with them about installation. -
This is the car, which I remembered, when read this topic. Very serious project and the car looks like stock in the engine bay . Also you can look at Squadra tuning Spider 2.8 turbo -> link . If the ECU of 2.0 V6 was more "advanced" ... In the mentioned project the guy start with ECU from 2.0 V6, but then move to Megasquirt and it is very happy with that move (not a surprise here).

I see that you are big fan of upgrades especially optical ones . First about upgrade list. What body think did you mean - Cup,Autodelta,Cadamuro or custom one. What is "Dodge Viper Induction Kit"? If you think to buy parts from/for Dodge Viper and use them this is not a option. About fitting of Q2 diff, the best option in my opinion is to be fitted from someone, who have done it before. That big price for labour is maybe because this mechanic haven't installed Q2 yet and think that this is gearbox out job and it is not and other reason is high economical standard in your country. Just for comparison - Q2 install in Bulgaria is 60-70 euro for labour (by experience mechanic). -
Why you have order replacement valve cover and plenum? What will be suspension upgrade? Good luck with restoring and upgrading .

Waiting for the installation and preparation . Your project probably will start before mine. The turbo have T25 style turbine inlet, so have to bolt on to the exhaust manifold bracket, if there is enough space to be mounted without modifications. I see that you have adapters for compressor housing inlet and outlet. Turbine outlet is more compact and different than standard 5 bolt. From what I have found this turbo (two of them) is used on Nissan Skyline GT-R V-Spec N1 (homologation special by Nismo). The pump is very powerful, Thanos will tell how is like sound after installation.

Now I saw the dials and they look great . I have one remark about cooling temperature dial. On original graphic there is two line without numbers and I think that they are for 70oC and 110oC, but I'm not sure about that. And they are closer to 50 and 130 than 90 degrees. If I'm right about these numbers, thats mean that the dial is non linear and it scale is more accurate around 90oC and charlee have to make revision for the future items .

Where exactly is factory limiter?I have seen different informations: 1) from page for chip on squadra tuning site it have to be on 6500 rpm (and with the chips it is raised to 6900 rpm); 2) from page on zeperfs.com it have to be on 6800 rpm; I think that mine is at 6900 rpm (or was 7000 rpm) and because of information in Squadra tuning site I was thinking that the ECUs of my car are tuned (or at least the rpm limiter).

Lets see if I understood correctly . You have cleaned your original injectors and then you have above mentioned problem. And then you bought injectors from 3.2 and they are installed on the car now? If that is right, was it done a remap for bigger injectors? P.S. I also have to have a spare TB injectors in the near future.

I was thinking about invitation of GTV fans which we know or someone in the forum maybe know. I see many nicknames on here which I have seen on other places on the net (especially with my model GTV 2.0 V6 TB). There is a couple members from Bulgaria on here. I have one friend which is very big GTV fan and have made some very detailed guides (with pictures ) for our models, but he don't want to deal with english language forum and also he don't have much time. I will mention one nickname which I have met on the net many times - SpeakerDocktor. There is a lot of members from Netherlands (especially with TB engine) so I'm sure that someone from here will know him in person. It will be good to invite him on here .

Software fuel cut off is based on air flow going into the engine. But this can be changed with reprogramming. But the injectors will reach its max flow (100% duty cycle=constantly opened) at some airflow which is programmed in the chip. And when the airflow continue to increase, the fuel flow can't follow it and the AFR will become leaner than it should be and this can be dangerous. Stock injectors are really small for turbo upgrade (which is not driven on low boost). So you don't know what is your max boost pressure now. When performance upgrades are made it is advisable to be installed boost gauge. There isn't GTV with Mitsubishi turbo from factory. Only older 164 TB have used such. Do you know if the chips, which was on the car before you change them, are original one?

That is the car. So this car don't exist anymore? Does the topic for it exist somewhere?
-
Now I try to open it, but there is error message - "Could not locate remote server". He is registered here and probably will give some information about that. His site must exist for sure!

Damgreg you can invite on here some 916 fans from France like amande.salee , if they understand english of course. P.S. I have seen one french (I think) project that was restoration and upgrade and the car was painted white with some inscriptions on it. It was long topic. Recently I have search for this project very serious, but can not find it.

I think you have to mention these upgrades in the first post in the list of changes . Bigger turbo is significant upgrade in my opinion! So you still use stock injectors and fuel pressure regulator? If answer is yes, the max flow that can be injected in the engine is the same as stock. Is the chips specially made for your setup or they are common chips for stock TB? What boost pressure you are running? About mentioned figure on the site. First times I saw that increased HP is from 30 hp, so I though this is normal for chip tuning of TB. But today I look again and see that mentioned increase is from 30 to 70 hp! And there isn't mentioned that hardware changes are needed for that. I will start one topic about chip tuning adverts .

There are options for rear dampers for now. You have done the difficult part - front dampers. And I see that you have do it with custom fabrication. Do you still use original springs? Very interesting and strange to me!

The calipers look really good . Powder coating? That disc is 305 mm, right? The adapters also look good. Waiting for pictures after brake upgrade .

Welcome here to another fan of unpractical cars (just a little joke ). Show us your cars.

I haven't changed ECU chips and don't know to be changed before me. And also I haven't changed anything in power-wise for now. And the question about ECU tuning is very interesting! I think you are not the first that you have asked me about that in that topic. I have thought to write that post from a long time and this is the moment. A little background. The project with all these parts have to be done in the last year (before I join this forum). The initial plan was to be used the stock engine management. Before the work on the car to start I make contact with the tuner, which have to set up the ECU. He was the best option in Bulgaria for this job in my opinion. After some messages and one functional diagram of ECU and sensors he saw that the car is with flap/vane type AFM. And he told me that nothing can be done with the stock ECU and bigger turbo, because that AFM is a big restriction to the intake and also when he is fully opened the ECU don't know how much air is going into the engine. That was big surprise for me then! I didn't know much about different air flow sensors until then. Then I ask him did he work with some standalone ECU. He answer me that he work with KMS, but to install such he want the engine of the car to be fully build at their shop, because there is a lot of risk! That is very serious and expensive for me. Later I have asked him about some options with stock ECU that I have hear, but no answer anymore. Then I decide to "pause" the project (without to talk with other tuner). But I don't wanted to sell anything, because I haven't decide what to do with that car and also the parts can be used for future project (with other car). And because of that is this "...maybe..." in the title of this topic from the start of it. I wanted to build some performance car! Then I start to think for another car with more performance potential again. But I wouldn't talk about that for now because this topic is for the GTV and the option for other performance car, which I want is far from me for now (because of money of course). I don't want to sell this car! It is my first (and only one for now) car and I really like it. After some time I start to think that I want to change the exhaust and probably new chips and that will be all. After some time I start to think that, when I change the exhaust will change the downpipe also (it is very restrictive). I have read on some places that when the exhaust was much more free flow exhaust and raised boost the seals of old stock turbo give up easily and after no so long time (that was not specifically for our model but in general). So after some time I start to think that when I change the downpipe will be good to be changed the turbo with one with more common exhaust flange, so will have more options in the future... and also the middle pipes of exhaust manifold, because mine are very crushed. At this stage the plan for bigger turbo start to rise again. The plan was a little bigger power, but I don't wanter to push the stock turbo to the limit, because of his ineffectiveness at high boost (which will be needed for more power), the heat it will produce and shorter life. After some time I start to think that, when the turbo will be changed with bigger one will be good to be installed the forge intercooler, which I bought earlier. The plan is to use the stock ECU and AFM and will see what will happen (and other ECU tuner of course). And the "little surprise" about car setup, which I mention some time ago, will be presented in the next post ...

And another TB from Turkey . Why you have choose Monroe Reflex for the back and how they feel? Koni Sport at front and Monroe Reflex at the back ... very strange combination in my opinion. I think that this is a second TB from Turkey with "All car racing" chip on here, probably that company is very popular there. How is the car after installing of the chips?
-
With "Aviation Hose" you probably mean braided stainless steel brake lines . Braided brake lines make brake feel firmer.
-
Welcome to the forum moon . Your GTA was from old one (305 mm front discs) or new one (330 mm discs and bigger calipers)? How you compare braking between GTA and GTV 3.0 24V?
-
Ooo I have seen that Delta on youtube - link . Impressive performance car.

Welcome to this site Guili . That GTV looks really good. I'm interested in the upgrades of the Giulietta and is that number from a dyno.

With the help of google I see that this is the last official alfa event of your club. Probably the weather in Italy is still good at that time of the year, because here is like this I wish you good weather and many participants with nice alfas . P.S. The PDF links don't work for me.

The wheels look good. But look at some exterior details - chrome roll bars , chrome scudeto frame, chrome exhaust tips, silver mesh in side panels, chrome pininfarina badges ... and black wheels sorry, just a joke with the black wheels . Silver paint will emphasize these good wheels. Black is for "shadow line" in my opinion. That is a real good combination of deals and interior!
